Dr. Joanna T. Ku, DMD

ENDODONTIST (Root Canal Treatment & MicroSurgical Endodontic Care)

Dr. Ku was born and raised in Los Angeles, California. She received her B.S. in Psychobiology from the University of Southern California, and her DMD from Harvard University. Dr. Ku completed her post-graduate specialty training in Endodontics from the University of Pennsylvania She was awarded the Louis I Grossman award for outstanding proficiency in the graduate program.

Her professional affiliations include the American Dental Association and the American Association of Endodontics. In her spare time, Dr. Ku enjoys traveling, hiking, playing guitar, building model cars, and tae kwon do.

Dr. Steven R. Sierakowski, DMD, MDSc

PERIODONTIST (Dental Implants, Periodontal Treatment)
Diplomate, American Board of Periodontology

Although originally from Columbus, Ohio, Dr. Sierakowski earned his Bachelor of Science degree from Villanova University in 1998, and later received his DMD from the University of Pennsylvania School of Dental Medicine in 2001. He completed a three-year advanced training program in periodontology at the University of Connecticut Health Center in 2004. In the same year, he received his Master of Dental Science degree, with research focusing on the connection between periodontal and cardiovascular diseases.

In 2005, Dr. Sierakowski obtained Board Certified status when he was named a Diplomate of the American Board of Periodontology. His repertoire of clinical experience in periodontal therapies includes traditional non-surgical and surgical therapy, periodontal plastic surgery, dental implantology and site development, sinus elevation, and the management of dental anxiety by providing conscious sedation.

Dr. Sierakowski’s commitment to dental education is exemplary. Since 2005, he has been a faculty member in the Department of Dental Medicine at the Albert Einstein Medical Center in Philadelphia. In 2009, he was appointed Chairman of the Division of Periodontics, in which he directs the clinical and didactic periodontal education of the General Practitioner Residents each year.

He is the author of First Aid for the NBDE Part I, a comprehensive review text for dental students preparing to take the National Board Dental Examination, a requirement for US dental licensure. It is now in its third edition. His second book, First Aid Q&A for the NBDE Part I, a companion to the first text, was published in 2009.

He maintains active membership in the American Academy of Periodontology, American Board of Periodontology, Academy of Osseointegration, Delaware Valley Academy of Osseointegration, American Dental Association, Pennsylvania Dental Association, Delaware State Dental Society, and the Dental Society of Chester County & Delaware County.

Outside of the office, Dr. Sierakowski enjoys golf and baseball. If he isn’t at a Phillies game, he is probably pursuing his other interests such as writing, music, and traveling.
